Few days I got something special from God through the teaching experience in my life. It was something that I cannot forget. A day after I got 'it', I shared it to my co-workers at school during our devotional time. I shared it to them because I think we all are as adults can learn something from the children.
Here is the story about something special from God :-)
Before the class dismissed, I gave my students homework. After they were ready to go home, I asked one of my students to lead a closing prayer. Then, Darren, he is 5 years old, came to me and said, "Ms Jojo, I want to lead the prayer." He stood beside me and he was ready to lead the prayer. Here is his prayer: "Lord Jesus, thank you for today. Thank you for helping us to study today. Lord, please remind us to do our homework at home so we can be a better student. And please, bless our friends and teachers so that we can meet again tomorrow morning. In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!"
While we were praying, I was really happy and I felt that God wanted me to learn something from this boy. His prayer is really simple and wonderful for me. He is only 5 years old but he is able to know what he has to say to God. I can say that he knows that he has a responsibility to do his homework.
Honestly, this is the first time I heard from one of the students I have. A prayer about asking God to remind him doing homework. I have been teaching more than 15 years and I am so thankful to God that I can learn a lot of things from my students about different things.
The thing that I can learn from Darren is I have to be honest to God about asking Him to remind me the things that I have to do; about submitting the work at school, checking my students' work, doing some responsibilities at home, stretching for my neck and back everyday and about other things. We are as adults sometimes forget to pray for that. We often ask God to give us blessings, strength, good health, etc, but we often forget to focus on 'other things' - ask God to remind us what we need to do in life.
I was glad that I could share to my co-workers at school about what Darren did. Thank you, Darren and all my other students. You all are the blessings from God for me as your teacher. May God bless you all and your family always! Amen!
